CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS
Show Your OTP Pride at this year's
Cherry Royale Parade.
As many of you know, we have had an award winning float in the parade almost every year for the past ten years. After taking a year off, Joe Rice and committee have put together a crack team to put something very very special together to celebrate our 50th season.
We are looking for folks who would like to walk the parade with us. We want as many OTP people as possible. We do ask that all children under 12 be accompanied by an adult. All participants will receive a special OTP 50TH anniversary baseball cap as well as food and drink. It will be a fun and exciting day for all.
You can anticipate the following time line:
July 11th, day of Parade.
-
7am-Meet at OTP, for dressing, makeup and preparation for transport to staging and judging area.
-
7:45-Transport float to Staging area. We are number 139 so expect we will be far down on State Street, probably close to Garfield.
-
8 to 9-Judges will be walking the Staging area and judging the float/s. This is a very important time as no judging actually takes place during the parade.
(A common misconception)
-
9 to 11-Down time prior to beginning of parade.
-
11:45 - You do not have to show up until 11:45 at the staging area. We are number 139. We are asking folks to wear khaki shorts and a white shirt..plus you will be given your OTP 50th anniversary baseball cap..
-
12:00-Parade begins. You can anticipate moving very slowly, we probably wont hit Front Street until about 1pm.
We will provide coffee, bagels, donuts for the morning and downtime prior to beginning of parade. We will also be hosting a BBQ in the parking lot immediately following the Parade for all who participate in the fun!
This is our 50th season folks, so we are hoping to make a huge presence in the parade this year. We are hoping that as many of our OTP regulars and friends come out in a show of support. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
